About the Speakers

Charles Wiebe brings a background in cross-functional product development, spanning software, hardware and system integration to TrackerRealm. Charles brings this knowledge to bear, whether it is to create a technology strategy for a client or to integrate Jetfire into a customer site. Charles specializes in .NET development of Windows and ASP.NET.
John Hansen brings his drive, proven leadership skills and strong technical knowledge in the computer and telecommunications industry to TrackerRealm.  During his career John has kept his technical knowledge up to date. A deep technical and practical understanding of technologies such as object oriented design, XML, and software architectures such as .Net is a necessary ingredient in achieving success.

John and Charles are co-developers of Jetfire – a persistent, multiuser scripting language with the syntax heavily based on C# and Java.
Michael Cox is an Ottawa based Software Architect who has been programming since age 11 and currently specializes in embedded real-time systems. He has spent half his career on embedded real-time system development for Defense based display projects and the other half with telecommunications embedded real-time development. Throughout his career Michael has strived for excellence in software development processes and optimum utilization of COTS hardware and software for embedded and real-time applications. When he’s not working on code; Michael enjoys cycling, hiking, dragon boat racing, and spending quality time with his wife and two daughters. He does not own a snow blower.
Wes MacDonald is a Microsoft MVP for Team System, a senior .NET Architect/Developer and a Principal Consultant for LIKE 10. Wes has been working with Team Foundation Server since its beta release and is currently helping government departments adopt it and the .NET Framework as their primary development platform. In addition to his expert skills in .NET, Wes is well versed in Oracle, SQL Server, and J2EE. He currently focuses on web based e-Commerce applications, web administration applications, and Text searching applications via web services and the web.
Kirk Munro is a Microsoft PowerShell MVP and the world's first self-proclaimed Poshoholic. He is also a Senior Software Developer for Quest Software where he is very happy working as a member of the PowerGUI team. Kirk has spent the last four years working on Windows Management products at Quest, specializing in data retrieval from Active Directory and Exchange data stores. These days he spends pretty much all of his time working with PowerShell and PowerGUI, writing his blog, and helping others in the PowerShell community. Peter Henry is a web developer with Syntapa Technologies and has a passion for everything Microsoft.  Peter has been programming since early versions of VB, went to the dark side with a stint in Java/J2EE/LINUX and has recently moved back to C#/Microsoft technologies.  To help learn .NET/C# he participated in two ODNC study groups and is helping out with his third.  He has obtained his MCSD, SCJD and is working towards two MCTS certifications.  He has obtained highly sought after industry certifications and has some proven strategies to help you obtain yours.

Souheil Ibrahim B.Sc., graduated from Ottawa University in 1995; is currently managing the development of all Thick Client Applications with Winfund Software Corp. His interest in computer programming goes back to the commodore64 days up until today where he is a VC++ predominant programmer. Currently, Souheil is looking into expanding his knowledge in .NET/C#. The study groups have helped him to accomplish this by joining his first one last year. Souheil wrote and passed the MCTS 70-526 exam last month and looking forward for the next one.
J. Carl Wagar is President of EntreNet Communications Inc, an Ottawa based consulting company specializing in Web application development and hosting.
Carl has taught a wide variety of courses for Learning Tree International including introductions to ASP.NET and SharePoint. He is the author of Learning Tree's
CMS course featuring DotNetNuke. Carl's recent notable experiences include ASP.NET Web/Database, SharePoint and DotNetNuke applications for the Ottawa Real Estate Board, Remax Ottawa, International Energy Agency and Equine Canada.
Jean-René Roy has been developing IT systems for large and small enterprises since 1987. In 1991 he founded the consulting firm Technologies SoftDesign Inc. Since that time he has worked on projects for Bell Canada, CGI, ArchiDATA, Sun Telcom, Accent de Ville, Kraft, ADN Medical and many other clients. He has been and is still very active in the developers’ community by acting as a user group leader for more then ten years with the MFUG, SSMUG and GUVSM user groups in Montreal. Jean-René is also the founder and president of www.DevTeach.com an international developer’s conference. Jean-René Roy has been nominated Microsoft MVP since July 1st.

Josh Korn has been writing software for more years than he’d care to admit. Since landing in Ottawa in 1993, he’s worked for several local software companies, including Corel, Simware/NetManage and Jetform. His experience is truly diverse – an industrial control system for Esso Canada, a videoconferencing product, a mobile suspect-tracker for a law enforcement company, and middleware that earned an A-List award. These days, he works as a consultant, mentor and troubleshooter, and has been a usability freak for quite some time. His alter ego spent nine years as the founder and president of one of Ottawa’s best kids’ sports leagues.
Mario Cardinal is an independent senior consultant specialized with agile processes and enterprise software architecture. Presently, he is software architect for the largest institutional fund manager in Canada and one of Québec's leading financial institutions. He possesses over fifteen years of experience in designing large-scale information systems. For the third year in a row, he has received from Microsoft the Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award in the competency of Solutions Architect. He leads the architecture interest group at the Montreal Visual Studio User Group and the Montreal’s chapter of the International Association of Software Architects (IASA). He is also the architecture track tech chair for DevTeach Conference. Furthermore, he hosts an audio Internet talk show about software development with Microsoft .NET (Visual Studio Talk Show). Mario holds Bachelor of Computer Engineering and Master of Technology Management degrees from the Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal, Canada. He also holds the titles of Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD.Net).
François Tanguay is a .net coach and co-founder of nVentive, a new concept where software development teams leverage coaching and guidance packages to build better software. He presently helps large scale institutions achieve their desired results through VSTS, agile processes and software frameworks. For over 10 years, his modeling skills and inventive ideas have guaranteed interesting discussions. Erik Renaud is a .net coach and co-founder of nVentive, a new concept where software development teams leverage coaching and guidance packages to build better software. His current mandates concentrate on large financial institutions creating new teams that directly support their primary activities. Erik has over 10 years of software development experience, coaching teams to architect, model and analyze software solutions. He ultimately helps them develop the solution using cutting edge .net technologies and offers guidance packages that accelerate the development phase. Zee Yang is a .NET developer currently employed by Apption Software. His areas of interest include web application development, SharePoint development, as well as architectural and design patterns. In the past, he worked as a member of the Adobe enterprise PDF platform team in Ottawa. Zee was the Microsoft Student Partner while attending the University of Ottawa.


Dominic Plouffe is currently a senior .NET architect and developer for Apption Software, where he is developing next generation intelligence solutions using the Microsoft.Net platform. Dominic has a wealth of experience in designing and developing applications. He has built content management systems for several online magazines, such as HotHardware.com, and was the co-founder and VP of R&D for FuseTalk Inc which sold to FuturePath Inc in 2006. FuseTalk, a high-end enterprise asynchronous collaboration solution, continues to provide state-of-the-art collaboration to Fortune 500 companies ( e.g. Boeing, Lockheed-Martin, Sprint, American Airlines and Adobe), governmental agencies (e.g. US Air Force and NASA) and recognized academic institutions (e.g. Harvard, UCLA, MIT and NYU).
Richard Kowalski is an independent information technology consultant and software developer who has worked on both sides of the IT coin. Early years he worked as a programmer then systems analyst for a major consulting company in Vancouver, BC. Here he played a leading role in applications related to broadcast management, student and school administration and general accounting. He then spent several years involved with IT infrastructure and particpated in the design, procurement, logistics and management of several mid-sized data centers. As a volunteer, he has spent several years supporting a Windows Server and network for a charitable organization in Ottawa. After transitioning back to his software developer roots, Mr. Kowalski participated in projects related to central/remote database synchronization, an intranet -based ASP Y2K application and a major business application for a federal government agency.
Joël Hébert is an Ottawa based consultant specializing in enterprise web application development. He has spent a major part of his career with CaseWare-IDEA Inc. and CaseWare International Inc. where he worked on large scale web applications and developed Computer Aided Audit Tools (CAAT). As an executive member of the Ottawa .Net Community, he has participated in “The Developers” TV show, was on the Inter User Group Challenge winning team, took part in a multitude of MCAD/MCTS study groups and introduced the Product Discovery Showcases for 2006/2007. When Joel is not coding he enjoys the works of Jean-Jacques Rousseau , Denis Diderot and Montesquieu.
Graham Ross has over 20 years of experience in the IT Industry. He has an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft .NET, COM, client server architecture, object oriented design and development. He has several years of experience developing scalable mission-critical desktop and server applications. His most recent experience was as lead architect for the development of a client-server product used by accounting firms for financial data analysis and fraud detection. As an executive member of the Ottawa .NET Community Graham has been involved in organizing and running community events, MCAD/MCSD study groups, and Inter User Group Challenges.
David Campbell has been working as a software architect, developer and trainer for nearly 20 years. He has extensive real world experience designing and architecting highly scalable object-oriented business applications and development frameworks using a wide range of Microsoft and Sybase technologies. He prides himself on his mentoring skills and has helped many developers bridge the gap to the next stage of their careers. David is currently using CSLA to develop a mission critical application development framework for the Canadian government.
